Argentina is a country of drama and passion. The drama is natural and is to be found at the southernmost part of the continent in Ushuaia with the lush green of the forests, still blue of the lakes and awe-inspiring peaks of the mountains in Tierra del Fuego National Park. As you move north, the drama continues as you find incredible glaciers outside of Calafate - the ancient, compacted ice in the most intense colors of green, blue and purple. Listen to Perito Moreno as it creeks and groans and loudly cracks as it calves huge icebergs. Take a hike on Perito Moreno and experience the peaks and valleys, crevices and mini-streams that are the glacier. A trip to Upsala glacier will take you among ice bergs as large as buildings. A little north of Calafate you will find the Fitz Roy Range, one of the most impressive mountain areas of Argentina and an ideal area for trekking and mountaineering.

Calchaquies Valley-Salta

The drama continues as you journey to the coastal area of Puerto Madryn where you can take advantage of the abundance of sea life, from penguins to whales in the Valdes Peninsula.

As you continue in the direction of Buenos Aires, the landscape of Patagonia gives way to the quiet, awe-inspiring beauty of the lake country with Bariloche, the centerpiece of the area. Bariloche is located on Lago Nahuelhuapi, surrounded by the Andes and is the take-off point for treks in the mountains, fishing and skiing. The rich diversity of Argentina continues as you pass through the wine country of Mendoza the farming area of Cordoba, the second largest city in Argentina, on your way to the extreme north. In Salta you will find a beautifully preserved colonial town which serves as the gateway to the Altiplano. From here you will experience extremes as profound as those in Patagonia: "painted" mountains, ancient fortresses, the "moonscape" of Salinas Grande, and the remarkable isolation of the picturesque village of Iruya. Everywhere wildlife abounds. The drama is capped at Iguazzu Falls, a breathtaking display of numerous immense cataracts in the middle of the jungle - lush with vegetation and wildlife.

CAVAS WINE LODGE -Mendoza
The passion of Argentina is found first and foremost in Buenos Aires, a sophisticated city that reflects its European heritage in the buildings, the style, the people and the language. Buenos Aires is the heart of tango and tango is the soul of Portenos. The passion is found in the inhabitants of the Calchaquies Valley who induce the arid land to give forth a meager offering of fruits and vegetables, and the Indians of the Humahuaca Gorge, many of whom come from the Puna and all with respect and reverence for Pachamama.
