Jewish Heritage Customized Travel Itinerary
Since the beginning of its history, the Iberian
Peninsula has been invaded by a succession of peoples such as
the Greeks, Romans, Cartaginesse ,etc. The first Jews were believed
to have arrived at the same time as the Romans between the 2nd
century B.C and the 2nd century A.D, and gradually began to be
assimilated into the society of the time. With the Moorish invasion,
the Jewish culture in Spain reached its height of splendor, living
peacefully with Arabs and Christian alike in principal cities
such as Toledo, Segovia, Caceres, Tudela, Cordoba and Gerona;
which preserve their Jewish District, Synagogues, etc . The Sephardic
Museum of Toledo is located in a 12th century building and has

The best museums
Spain has been home and inspiration to some of the
greatest painters of all time (Velazquez, Goya, Murillo, El Greco,
Picasso, Dali, etc.). In Madrid´s famous Prado Museum and
Reina Sofia Museum of Modern Art, you will see the masterpieces
of not only these geniuses but also many others, both Spanish
and international. The Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum situated near
the Prado, houses one of the world´s largest private collections
(800 works) with emphasis on the Flemish School and the Impressionists.
Barcelona is closely associated with such painters as Picasso
and Miro, who each have their own museum in the city. Add to this,
the Contemporary Art Museum and the architectural creations of
Gaudi, and you truly have an art lover´s paradise. From
the Guggenheim in Bilbao, to Gaudi´s Sagrada Familia and
Guell Park in Barcelona, to the Prado, Thyssen, Reina Sofia and
the Neoclassical Royal Palace in Madrid, there is a plethora of
delights offered that will satisfy even the most demanding lover
of art. Of course, art is not just found in museums and any art-oriented
tour would not be complete without visits to Spain´s many
splendid cathedrals, romanesque churches, renaissance palaces
and modernist buildings.
